In My Mailbox (2)

IMM is a weekly meme hosted by the Story Siren--and all info about how it works can be found here

From the Library
Five Flavors of Dumb

I read the synopsis for this book a while ago and was immediately snagged. It's about a girl who becomes the manager of a band called Dumb. But here's the thing: she's deaf. She can't actually hear any of their music, which is kinda bad when one must book gigs and convince others of said band's awesomeness.
I flipped out when I found out my library had this book--super psyched to start reading!

Insurgent

Easily one of the most anticipated novels of the year. I liked Divergent--maybe not loved it as much as many others, but definitely enough to read the sequel.
Though I must admit.... more Four/Tobias is a big incentive for me.

I've already read a couple of chapters, and I gotta say, it's better than the first book!

Devil in Winter
This isn't like my usual romantic YA pick, but a couple of weeks ago, the male lead of A Devil in Winter, Sebastien St. Vincent, was a rather popular book boyfriend, so I just had to get this book from the library to see if he's really as swoon-worthy as everyone thinks he is.

The Immortal Rules
Julie Kagawa!!! I fell in love with her Iron Fey series--and I've actually already finished this book! (I got it on Wednesday...)
Let's just say that Kagawa does NOT disappoint.

PS: Thank you Ms. Kagawa for not making your vampires sparkle.

Finnikin of the Rock

This is not a closely guarded secret, but I'm obsessed with all things Melina Marchetta. The woman can do no wrong. I've read all of her contemporary novels and am quite psyched to see how she tackles fantasy/adventure/i-don't-really-know-how-to-categorize-this-book

Bought

Pride and Prejudice

Soooo......*mumble mumble*... For all my talk of loving fictional boys, I've never actually read this book--with the male lead that makes most women swoon.
That's right. Mr. Darcy.
AKA The original swoon-worthy male character.
This is actually my summer reading assignment so I'm quite glad I now have a legitimate reason and force myself to read old-timey language and meet the much-beloved Mr. Darcy

Wuthering Heights

This, too, is part of my summer reading.... which is good for me because a lot of people rave about this book, but let's just say it's not something I would choose to read in my free time.
I don't know why--honestly, I don't!--but I'm just not a fan of old books! (also, I have a rather tight definition of what constitutes as "old" books...)

So, in short, thank you AP English for making me read this book. I'm sure it will be useful for further book blogging references...

A Tale of Two Cities

Again, not really my ideal reading choice--and this is NOT required summer reading. BUT Barnes and Noble was having the buy 2 get the 3rd classic free sale, and I chose this as my third book because.....
well...
because I wanted to write Will's inscription to Tessa in it.....
Is that terribly nerdy of me??

So what new books did YOU get this week?
Leave a link in the comments for me and I'll be sure to check it out!

  3. Oh my gosh, I haven't heard of Five Flavors of Dumb before but I am so intrigued! I'll have to see if my library has it. A Tale of Two Cities is actually one of my favorite books... once I managed to get through it anyways. :P Thanks for sharing!
