My Book Boyfriend: Romeo Montague

My Book Boyfriend is hosted every week by Missie at the Unread Reader---all you have to do is pick an adorable literary boy and give some stats and quotes to show why he is so lovable! Check out the intro post here

NO! I am NOT talking about that Romeo from Shakespeare's play! Okay, well, technically, I am, but I'm not at the same time. Trust me, I don't really care for Shakespeare's Romeo, but Romeo from Juliet Immortal, by Stacey Jay was totally crushworthy.... even if he was technically kind of evil. Kinda weird that I'm book-boyfriending him? Maybe....

Juliet's POV

"He is a romantic, a dreamer, and never afraid to play the fool. He is fearless and reckless and brave  and I love him for it. Desperately."

"We're soul mates," he says. "We are forever. Our kind of love cannot be destroyed."

He stops, looking at me, eyes filled with sadness. "You would have died cursing my name, cursing the day you met me and the day I killed your cousin. You would have died poisoned with hate, and it would have destroyed my soul. And yours. I couldn't bear the thought of it. I loved you too much. I swear that I did, that I do...or at least, that I will again if you'll give me the chance."

 Romeo's POV

"For a moment, that one shining moment this morning when I thought the glow around Juliet's heart was for me, I felt... happiness. No, more than happiness. I felt... hope, the spark of something pure, flashing like lightning through the dry air, setting thins crackling inside me."

"Again and again and again, her name rips from my lips, howls through my mind. Juliet! I know better than to pray, but still something inside me begs the universe for mercy. Let her have someone on her side, someone to save her from the specter that would take her and from the hell that awaits. Someone to save her from me."

"I loved her all along. I didn't realize how much until she was gone, until I was returned to my body and crept back to the place where she died and touched her lifeless hand, cried over her wide, sightless eye. Juliet. My Juliet. Her soul is gone forever. I can feel the difference in the universe, the absence that is a world with one less spot of light. I tried to save her. I hope, in some fashion, I did. I hope she's at peace in the mist... or wherever it is good people go."
